Someone needs a new stylist..

Remember how much I hated Top Combine's stylist? How s/he made them look like Chinese-ified DBSK? This time, s/he has gone too far. For one thing, the brilliant composer/violinist Mars looks like a Japanese druggie. Wow that sounded kind of racist. I mean he looks Japanese and like a druggie. Nothing wrong with Japanese, but they're one of the first best Chinese bands, can't they look more Chinese? Bird and Kenny have pretty much the same haircuts, and maybe Xiao Wu but I can't really tell because it's always spiked up. The style looks fine on Kenny because it's similar to what he had before, but on Bird.. I don't know, it just doesn't look shun you know? I can't find the English term for it right now; I guess it just doesn't feel right. He doesn't look too bad when his hair is gelled though. Kenny just looks more like a girl, but he looks cute as a girl so I won't complain +] Caesar looks like he has too much hair. I mean, he already has a lot of hair (I think), and now it's all piled up on 3/4 of his head 'cause it's blown to one side or something. Either way, it looks kind of strange. Although he wore a giant headband (which btw not everyone can pull off but he did, somehow) at this one fan meeting and that went pretty well with his outfit. The only makeover I actually approve of his Xiao Wu's. It's drastically different from his cutesy boy image, but... well to put it simply--he looks really hot. It has a reddish tint and kind of a mohawk. It's sort of like G-Dragon's hair during their "Lies" days. And to top it off Xiao Wu has a giant spike through his ear.

Without further ado, Top Combine!

Rookie Updates

Rookie bands releasing new albums through Feb and March +]

First up, Dalmatiann. I wasn't a huge fan of their debut single, "Round 1", but their new album is really good. In my opinion anyway. It's diverse and at first, none of the songs sound too bad. Then they grow on you, kind of like SHINee. Pretty soon you get addicted to them. The two songs they were promoting were "That Man Disapproves" and "Lover Cop".

That Man Disapproves:

Lover Cop:

I'm not sure why, but I like "That Man Disapproves" better. But then again, I haven't really listened to "Lover Cop" that much. First time seeing blue hair in kpop. You get a lot of blondes, maybe a few oranges or reds, but not really blue. I think there should be more blue hair, it looks awesome.

The song I really like (which, unfortunately, is not a promotion song) is "Lost in Love". Overall, Dalmation seems to be a promising boyband. Even through the autotune, you can tell that their rapper is legit and their vocals are pretty strong. Especially the beginning of "Lost in Love" and the wailing part in "That Man Disapproves".

Lost in Love:

Next, Infinite is back with a third singles album, "Inspirit". Their MV for "Nothing's Over" was released yesterday. It's a pretty upbeat song.

Finally, ZE:A. Their title track is "Here I Am", with a bright preppy-boy theme and lots of colorful clothes and skinny jeans and dolls and flowers. This is some kind of new trend in kpop boybands. "That Man Disapproves" is very similar if you compare the two side by side.

These other two songs are kind of growing on me. They have strong beats and are really catchy.

UCLA Girl

Oh my. After watching her video I wasn't sure if I wanted to laugh at her stupidity or scream at her racism. If you haven't seen it yet, it's basically just this girl from UCLA who rants about her hatred of Asians. On YouTube. Where some of the most popular video-makers are Asian (nigahiga, kevjumba, wongfu, peter chao, david choi just to name a few). And she also goes to UCLA which is filled with Asians. Not a good idea. Asians are piling up in the U.S. And they're obviously going to be pissed. There are tons of video responses from Asians, and other races too. She even got death threats, so she'd better be careful. 1/3 of the world is Asian, and I'm pretty sure there's nothing Asians can't or won't do. Man, we've got ninjas. So for that "Asians can't do anything" comment she made in the video, I hope she doesn't realize her false perception the painful way. Plus, what about the advanced tech gadgets? Has America come up with a 3D phone? I don't think so. And probably the Wal-Mart clothes she had on her back are "Made in China".

The most ironic part? She majors in political science. I'm starting to have my doubts about the quality of UCLA's education. Especially their political science program. Teaching students to be racist sluts? So is that the status quo these days?

I really wanna see kevjumba or nigahiga do a response to this. Peter Chao already has, and it was actually serious for once. A new guy can thank the UCLA girl for his sudden rise to YouTube stardom because I think he got over a million views in 3 days on his video response. She brought out some hidden talent. You know what they say, every cloud has a silver lining.

Strange

These two Asian guys that make fun of JZ and I for listening to Asian music now know more about kpop than we do. Well, in some cases. One if them asked me if GD and Dara are going out, and I didn't even know there was this rumor. Maybe it's just me, idk. But he said that Miss K's "Gee" dance is hilarious. And apparently Miss K is Kyuhyun as a girl. Is that common knowledge too? I mean, I knew Kyu dresses up as a girl sometimes, I just didn't know he had a name for his counterpart and she did SNSD dances. Oh, and he can also do SHINee's "Hello" dance. And identify all the SNSD members (which I can't even do) and he's only been listening to kpop for like a week. Plus, those two keep humming "Hello". It's a great song and I love it, but I'd rather not listen to it 24/7.

But the only reason they're so interested in kpop is because they talk to this pretty, but supposedly evil since I've never met her, girl who loves kpop. The SNSD guy does anyway. And so he likes anything the girl does and doesn't appreciate cpop or mandopop at all. If you're going to listen to Asian music, you can't miss Jay Chou. Seriously. Fortunately, I converted the other guy so yay another azn media lover :) Technically two but the first ones a suck-up. I guess I'll count him though; anything to spread the power of Asian media of course.

It's been a while..

And we've been busy-- but so has kpop idols!! SJM came out with a new mini-album about two weeks ago called "Perfection 太完美" with six tracks, one of which is composed by Jay Chou (XD). It's their first album as reformed group after Hangeng left. I was wondering why one person left SJM, but then they sent two people to replace him? But maybe it's because Hangeng was the dance machine, so that's why Eunhyuk joined, but they also needed a powerful vocal, and that explains Sungmin. Anyways, here's the tracklist.

1. 太完美 (Perfection)
2. 命運線 (Destiny)
3. 幸福微甜 (Love is sweet)
4. 表白 (Off my mind)
5. True Love
6. 吹一樣的風 (My all is in you)

Perfection MV:

A Korean version of this song was also released, which I understand, but then SM released a Taiwanese version? I haven't seen the Taiwanese version, but if it's the same video and still in Mandarin, I don't see the point. Unless SJM redid the song in Taiwanese or something, I just don't understand why a Taiwanese version was released. Either way, even though "Perfection" was the title track, I preferred the other ones, especially Henry's composition "Off My Mind". It sort of reminds me a little bit of Justin Bieber, but it's catchy. Lol his song just started playing on my iPod when I started typing the last sentence. And is it me or is his Taiwanese/Cantonese accent phasing out?

Off My Mind:

Now moving on to one of THE most respected kpop bands of all time-- BIG BANG!! What was it, like a 5-year hiatus? But they all had solo activities so it wasn't too bad. Unfortunately, this is only a mini-album since they're planning to release their hits in spurts.

Tonight MV:

Alright since I like all of them and I can't choose my favorite(s), I'll just link the rest.

Somebody to Love
What is Right
Cafe
Hands Up
Intro (Thank You & You)

OK yeah they're out of order. But that doesn't take away the power of Big Bang.
